Lambeth:
LAMBETH is a great place to teach - we are the second largest Inner London borough with a population of over 270,000. Socially and culturally, one of the most diverse communities in Great Britain, Lambeth boasts cultural attractions such as the South Bank complex, internationally renowned theatres and sporting venues, such as the Oval cricket ground. Transport links are very good, with Central London only a tube or bus ride away.
Teaching in Lambeth is challenging, stimulating and immensely rewarding. We have good schools, fantastic children and outstanding opportunities for Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). Our most recent OFSTED report confirmed our strength judging us as very good, stating teachers and NQTs are well-supported, standards in schools are improving at a better rate than nationally, and schools highly value our education advisers and can rely on good support to raise achievement levels.
Lambeth has a state of the art Professional Development Centre, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for the whole schools workforce is amongst the best in the country. Our NQT Induction programme is outstanding, with 99% of last year’s NQTs meeting the national standards.
We offer many benefits for teachers, such as interest free season ticket loans, access to Housing Options schemes for teachers, childcare information and discounted benefits within the borough, such as the Lambeth Leisure Card. Best of all, Lambeth is able to offer its teachers pay on the Inner London scale!
