Croydon:

As you would expect from a large, multicultural London Borough, Croydon is a diverse and vibrant place to live and work. Transport links are excellent and you can be in the centre of London within 15 minutes. With a huge variety of schools to choose from, a fully comprehensive induction programme for NQTs and excellent CPD opportunities, it's a great place to start and continue your teaching career.

We have 85 Primary schools ranging in size and phase, including the only Greek Orthodox School in the country and two single sex junior schools. Our 16 Secondary schools are equally varied, offering a wide choice of specialisms, with opportunities to teach 6th form in over a quarter of them. We have six Special schools who work closely with their mainstream counterparts to promote inclusive education. In addition, there are 5 academies within the Borough of Croydon.

Our induction programme for NQTs has been described by the TTA as having a comprehensive and well established record of support and development opportunities. Additionally our innovative Primary Tutor Head Groups have been recognised nationally as a model of good practice.

Croydon teachers are offered the outer London allowance, assistance with realistically priced accommodation, special deals and discounts at various local and national organisations and an annual Season Ticket Loan for bus or rail travel.

NQTs

Primary NQTs are invited to apply to our pool, for which there are 2 closing dates - January 31st and March 31st

The pool involves an interview in a Croydon Primary school followed by a detailed debrief. 70% of all Primary NQTs appointed to Croydon come via the pool.

Secondary teachers' details are circulated to all schools via our database, for where there is no closing date although NQTs should aim for the end of February to be able to access the highest number of vacancies. There will be a recruitment event in the Spring term for those wishing to teach in secondary schools – further details can be found on our website.

For a detailed application pack, email or telephone the Teacher Recruitment Team on teacher.recruitment@croydon.gov.uk and 020 8760 5455.
