South London Group:

The South London Group is a working group, which meets six times a year to discuss new initiatives effecting Recruitment and Retention in Schools. Each Local Authority has a Recruitment Strategy Manager who is invited to attend the group's meetings and to represent their Local Authority. The group looks at ways to promote the teaching profession and maintain a quality workforce in South London Schools. This website is a result of working in partnership and seeks to promote the opportunities and advantages of working in South London.

London:

London is a vast metropolis. It services a population of over 7 million inhabitants and is by far the largest city in Europe, a distinction it has maintained since the 17th century. Four hundred years later London continues to be one of the world's major financial and cultural capitals. London produces 20% of the United Kingdoms GDP and has the largest concentration of bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants, theatres and museums in the country.

South London:

South London is physically spread out and diverse and defies easy general description. The inner boroughs have dense urban populations made up of a diverse multi-ethnic mix. The Docklands light railway and London underground provide good transport for these bustling communities. The outer London boroughs become increasingly more suburban and spread out, with green spaces and even small rural villages where their southern borders meet with Kent and Surrey. Overhead rail networks provide good transport into the city centre for commuters.

South London offers all the social amenities you would expect from a capital city. Some of the major landmarks that can be found across the region are: The London Eye; Kew Gardens; Wimbledon Tennis club; The Globe Theatre; The National Maritime Museum; Tate Modern and the South London Gallery. All this means that properties in South London are in high demand. However, the government is committed to providing accommodation to Key Public Sector Workers and all the South London Boroughs are associated with the Key Worker Living scheme.
