TRAINING AND SURVEYING

We want you to get in touch if:

•  Your identification skills need brushing up, but you can make a start at helping to build up local records of species for the BBAP.

•  You are already competent at identifying certain species and wish to contribute to the BBAP by sending in records you have already collected or wish to start recording species on new sites.

•  You are interested in computerising available species and habitats data.

•  You are a pupil or student who has undertaken a biodiversity project or dissertation in the Borough. We want to hear what you discover!

•  You would like to be trained in a particular identification skill from scratch.

Click here to contact us about recording and try to use the attached Recording Form (aan Excel spreadsheet) to write up your records for sending in.

A number of organisations arrange survey training days on habitats, species or groups of species for their staff, volunteers or targeted groups. As part of the BBAP, training days have taken place in the past in relation to amphibians, dragonflies, butterflies, moths, chalk downland plants and water voles, for example.

Through the BBAP, our aim has been to increase the number of volunteers able to get involved with survey work and so help us find out more about biodiversity in the Borough. Training gives confidence in identification skills, technique and safety. To find out about forthcoming training days, check out the information below.

For further information about recording and surveying see Monitoring Habitats & Species.
