Role of the Steering Group

The Steering Group provides the coordination needed to ensure that positive action is taken to understand and help habitat and species in the Borough through the involvement of various stakeholders.

Action leads help steer effort towards the achievement of BBAP targets. Together with other partners, anyone that can make a contribution to translating the written details into real action and provide the expertise that feeds into the Partnership.

Role of the Steering Group

Membership & Frequency of Meetings	• Membership of Steering Group to be reviewed regularly and invitations made. • Steering Group to meet at least twice a year.	• Steering Group comprising of LBB, wildlife bodies, GLA, statutory agencies, representatives of landowners, residents associations etc. Chair Usual Chair from LBB. The London Borough of Bromley (Planning Strategy & Heritage) chairs the group.

Relevance	• Steering Group to keep up-to-date with progress of London Biodiversity Partnership and Mayor's Biodiversity Strategy, England Biodiversity Strategy, UK Biodiversity Strategy. • Ensure BBAP remains relevant through fresh discussion, new ideas and updates.	• Pool existing knowledge; keep Partners informed etc. • Chair normally to represent Steering Group at regional and national meetings.

Overarching Action	• Discuss general/overarching approaches in meeting the objectives of the BBAP/guide implementation of BBAP. • To coordinate joint approaches covered by the BBAP's generic actions: policy; land and species management; advice, publicity and education; monitoring and research, as well as funding opportunities.	• Coordinated approach; help implement action required; chair to organise ‘special meetings' as appropriate etc.

Monitoring	• Monitor the effects of action taken under the BBAP, including overseeing/reviewing progress. • Submit information to BARS • To produce a Bromley BAP Annual Report.	• Act as central point of contact for biodiversity action in Bromley through the chair.

Habitat Leads & associated partners	• To recognise the expertise of leads and associated partners	• Encourage support for implementation

BBAP Review	To coordinate the review of the BBAP every five years and report to relevant LBB Portfolio Holder, local groups and London Biodiversity Partnership.	• To promote the current BBAP.
