Local Recording project

Although Britain has an enviable tradition of amateur experts who have carried out much of the recording of all forms of plant and animal, there is considerable concern that within 20 years this body of expertise will be lost. Many people in Bromley already contribute to our knowledge of species in the area as part of the BBAP.

This project is looking at ways of involving more local people in survey work. By providing a series of training events and easing ways of passing on records, we are encouraging the public to gather information about particular species and so greatly increase survey effort. These surveys will also help strengthen the relationship individuals or groups have with their local green spaces. The information gathered will help us better understand change in wildlife species and numbers too.

With the creation of Green Information for Greater London (GIGL) and the ability to enter your records on these webpages you can be sure that any information you provide will be of value locally, regionally and nationally.
